E-News 3-22-24 FEDERAL GOVERNMENT RELATIONS FDIC Proposes to Expand Criteria for Bank Merger Evaluations  The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. board Thursday voted 3-2 to pursue potential changes to how the agency will evaluate bank merger applications, including broadening the number of competitive factors it will take into consideration when deciding whether to approve or deny applications, and requiring a “thorough accounting” of the potential effects on communities, including possible branch closures or relocations.  The FDIC last updated its policy statement on bank mergers in 2008....

This marks an earlier end to session than the originally scheduled date of March 14. Lawmakers worked at a hectic pace last week brokering final agreements on a variety of legislative proposals. E-News 3-1-24 STATE GOVERNMENT RELATIONS Two IBA Priority Bills Pass Final House Votes House Bill 1284 and Senate Bill 188, two key IBA priority bills, both passed this week on final votes in the House. HB 1284 (Deposit Account Agreements) is legislation that addresses the recent Indiana Supreme Court rulings that created significant challenges to financial institutions as it relates to making ongoing changes to account agreements.
