In today’s world of rapid change, executives and managers must continually find creative solutions to complex challenges, making effective leadership more necessary than ever. The 2010 High-Performance Leadership Institute serves as a springboard for individual and organizational success by helping participants become more effective leaders. 

Banks today face unprecedented challenges from margin squeezes, to an increasingly uncertain real estate market, to changing cultures within the organization.  The High-Performance Leadership Institute helps develop the leaders to solve issues that challenge the entire bank.  It is a new approach to management education.  

Each session offers a full day of training, with additional homework assignments to be completed before the next session. Homework assignments and questions about the material or subject matter will be reviewed in telephone conferences.

Session 1:  Outstanding Leadership

  • What is a leader?
  • The difference between managing and leading.
  • How to build and enhance your credibility.
  • How to influence.
  • Encouraging others.
  • Communicating in groups and one-on-one.

Session 2:  Leading High Performance Teams

  •  Putting together the right team members.
  •  Defining and understanding the different stages of team development
  •  Managing conflict.
  •  Decision-making teams vs. information teams: how to know and use the different processes.

Session 3:  High Performance Coaching

  • What are the different coaching models?
  • What is “high performance” coaching?
  • How to develop a successful coaching model
  • A review of mentoring, and how to build mentoring relationships
  • How to give corrective feedback
  • How to handle the difficult personality

Who Should Attend
You are highly regarded in your own branch, department or area. You are motivated and accountable for your results. What will bridge the gap between you and the next level of management is leadership perspective.  The IBA Leadership Institute will bridge that gap and  accelerate your development within your bank by providing you with the skills to manage teams, motivate, communicate and drive results. If you are a banker with at least 2 years of experience in financial services at the branch management level or higher, in a sales capacity, or a professional in an operational department of a bank, you are eligible to apply.

Program Schedule
The program is delievered in four (4) one-day sessions:
Session 1....................................March 18, 2010
Session 2......................................Arpil 15, 2010
Session 3......................................May 13, 2010
Session 4.....................................June 17, 2010

All sessions will be held at the IBA Center for Professional Development, 6925 Parkdale Place, Indianapolis, IN 46254.  Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m., with classes running from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Meet the Faculty
Duane F. Sobecki
is CEO of Focused Results LLC, a sales strategy firm. A renowned authority in business development & strategic market segmentation, Mr. Sobecki provides actionable strategic sales, marketing, and planning strategies to financial service corporations, health care organizations, and schools and universities. 

Before working at Focused Results, Mr. Sobecki was Director of Business Development and one of the founders of the Financial Services Institute at the University of Indianapolis, a bank, credit union, and insurance education and research center. 

Mr. Sobecki holds a BS in Business from Indiana University and is a certified management planner. A charismatic speaker, Mr. Sobecki has led seminars and workshops on sales and marketing, and management at numerous universities and corporations. 

Tuition
The following fees include workbook materials, instructor fees, continental breakfast and lunch at each session:

Single Session 
  $225 - IBA Member
  $450 - Non-Member 

Full Program
  $850  - IBA Member
$1700  - Non-Member

As of Jan. 1, 1994, only 50 percent of business food and beverage can be deducted. For tax purposes the cost of food and beverage for this program is $50.

Attendance and Cancellation Policy
Participants must attend all sessions in order to successfully complete the program. Participants withdrawing before April 8, 2010, will receive a 50% refund. All fees are forfeited after Arpil 9, 2010. Additional refunds may be granted in emergency cases only. These special requests must be submitted in writing by the participant's CEO within 30 days of withdrawal.
