The responsibilities of a bank security officer are an integral part of a bank’s operations. Once considered a “necessary evil” by some, the responsibilities are now ”necessary” to every bank concerned about serving their customers in order to enhance the TRUST customers are looking for as they navigate the waters of an ever changing marketplace. Maintaining operational efficiencies, while addressing the physical security and account level security at financial institutions, is becoming an increasingly challenging part of banking operations. Security officers need a working knowledge of the laws, regulations and industry standards that give them the authority and responsibility to act. They must be able to develop policies and procedures to address security concerns and protect employees and customers, along with facilities, assets and records.
All regulatory agencies require the institutions they supervise to develop and maintain a Security Program — this is not an option. To be truly effective, a Security Program must contain policies and procedures that regulate the routine activities of every function and department within your institution.
Every year brings new challenges to the task of protecting financial institutions from the evolving perils of today’s society. The current economic crisis is challenging some of the most basic industries and banks on a global scale. Unfortunately, the operational risks posed by criminal activity do not slow down during economic distress. They keep attacking, always looking to find weaknesses in our defense against them. While the tremendous benefits associated with the march toward greater digitization and Internet based connectivity have resulted in more products and services for customers, this new world has created an enemy as strong and unwavering in its attempt to exploit financial institutions and consumers at every turn in the road.
This dynamic, fast-paced conference is specifically designed to address the continuing education needs of today’s professional security officer along with topics to deal with the everyday issues facing Security Officers and others tasked with protecting their organization!

1:00 – 3:45 pm Never Be Lied to Again - Advanced Techniques in Statement Analysis Jim Rechel, the Rechel Group, Inc.
“Statement Analysis” is an innovative and effective technique for obtaining information and detection of deception. It is the process of probing a person's words to determine exactly what the person is saying. This includes determining if the person is being truthful or deceptive, discovering additional information within the statement, and seeing if the person is withholding any information. Statement Analysis is based on three things: Word Definitions, Rules of Grammar, and Research and Observations. Every word has a meaning. When you combine this with the fact that people mean exactly what they are saying, it then becomes possible to determine what a person is telling you, and if the person is being truthful or deceitful. This three hour session will provide you with new methods to get to the truth!
