What is Indiana BANKPAC
Indiana BANKPAC is the Indiana Bankers Association’s political action committee. It is an independent, volunteer group whose membership consists of bank directors, officers, administrative personnel, and others interested in the direction of the banking industry. BANKPAC offers Indiana bankers a voice in state and national politics through campaign contributions. Indiana BANKPAC is registered with the Federal and State Election Commissions.
Indiana BANKPAC accepts contributions to two political action funds - one state and one federal - used for political campaign purposes. Indiana BANKPAC contributes to individual candidates and committees for state legislative, congressional, and senatorial contests. All contributions given to the Indiana BANKPAC are solely dedicated for political campaign support. In 2012, Indiana BANKPAC raised over $181,000 for the state fund and almost $60,000 for the federal fund. Of that, approximately $240,000 was contributed to legislators here in Indiana. The remaining was carried over to be used for legislators in the future.
Who Can Contribute?
Indiana BANKPAC is divided into two separate funds, a state fund and a federal fund and each fund has different rules that must be followed according to the Federal Election Commission and the Indiana Election Division for the solicitation process.
Indiana BANKPAC State Fund - Bank directors, officers, administrative personnel, and others interested in the direction of the banking industry can contribute to the state fund. State-chartered banks may also give corporate contributions to the Indiana BANKPAC State fund. Federally-chartered banks are prohibited from making corporate contributions. A Federally-chartered bank may collect individual contributions from employees for the state fund.
Indiana BANKPAC Federal Fund - Any association executive and administrative personnel and their families may be solicited with signed written approval. These include employees who are paid on a salary (rather than hourly) basis and who have policymaking, managerial, professional or supervisory responsibilities (officers, branch managers, division or group managers) and professionals, such as lawyers or accountants, who are employed by member banks. Board members and stockholders may be solicited as well, if they have a vested beneficial interest in the stock, the power to direct how the stock will be voted, and the right to receive dividends. All corporate contributions are prohibited.
It is important to note, in order to be solicited for federal contributions, Indiana BANKPAC must receive a signed written or electronic copy of the Federal Solicitation Form. If you would like to complete this form for your bank, please click here.
How Can I Contribute?
There are four key options for those who would like to contribute to Indiana BANKPAC.
This option is a key component to continued fundraising success and future growth of the Indiana BANKPAC. It is automatic, painless and easy to administer. Rather than contributing by a personal check all at once, payroll deduction offers the option of having a contribution deducted from each payroll check throughout the year.
This option is simply just a one-time contribution to Indiana BANKPAC.
INDIANA BANKPAC SWEEPSTAKES
Each year the IBA hosts a drawing to win a free trip to a different and exciting place each year. Past trips have included excursions to Ireland, Tuscany, New England, Scotland, and Costa Rica. Indiana BANKPAC Sweepstakes entries can be submitted for a $25 donation, with all proceeds going directly into the Indiana BANKPAC state fund. Entries are available to member bank employees and directors only, increasing the odds for those who participate. A cash prize option is also available, per the winner’s preference. This year's trip for two is a 10 day journey to Hawaii! Click here to enter online or download the entry form!
The IBA conducts a silent auction every fall at the Annual Convention. Items available at the silent auction range from golf clubs and children’s toys to exquisite art and jewelry. Every dollar given for the purchase of these items at the silent auction supports the Indiana BANKPAC state fund.
