What Can We Do for You? - A Guide to the Indiana Bankers Association for the Vendor Community

The Indiana Bankers Association was founded in 1897. With subsequent mergers with the Indiana League of Savings Institutions (2000) and the Community Bankers Association of Indiana (2006), the IBA is the largest and most comprehensive association of financial institutions in the state.

The mission of the IBA is to support its members' efforts to provide financial services to the citizens of Indiana. One responsibility contained within that mission is keeping the membership informed of those products and services that can assist them in their success. As such, the IBA has the frequent opportunity to help match the needs of the Indiana bankg industry with the products and services of those firms serving the industry.

We sincerely believe that the IBA enjoys a unique position in the marketplace. We have unparalleled name recognition and trust amongst the members of the association.  As such, we are confident that we possess numerous marketing and communication vehicles that offer superior opportunities for you to increase product awareness and market share. For more information please contact Paul Freeman at 317-387-9380.

These vendor opportunities include:

Associate Membership

For businesses that do business with Indiana banks, the IBA offers a unique opportunity - associate membership. Associate membership in the IBA is an outstanding value. For only $1,000 a year, associate members are entitled to many of the same benefits afforded IBA financial institution members. These benefits include:

  • A complimentary subscription to the Hoosier Banker magazine, the only monthly trade journal designed specifically for Indiana bankers.
  • Access to a wide variety of educational opportunities at the IBA member price.
  • A listing in the annual Indiana Financial Institutions Directory and the opportunity to place display advertising in the "Yellow Pages" - a privilege reserved solely for IBA associate members.
  • A listing on the IBA Web Site, with a link to your home page.
  • Member discounts for all IBA products and services, including advertising in the Hoosier Banker.
  • Priority handling of registrations for conferences, conventions and trade shows.
  • Opportunities to network through participation in IBA committees.

    Display Advertising

The IBA offers several print vehicles for your marketing message:

    Hoosier Banker Advertising

Hoosier Banker is the official monthly magazine of the IBA. It is designed to provide an in-depth analysis of Indiana banking developments, as well as timely news and information about issues affecting the banking industry. The Hoosier Banker is distributed to nearly 4,000 subscribers and enjoys pass-along readership of more than 11,000. Readers represent the key decision makers in Indiana banks, including CEOs, directors, senior management, department managers, branch managers and administrative personnel. Contact Paul Freeman for more information.

    Indiana Financial Institutions Directory

The Indiana Financial Institutions Directory contains a geographical city listing of Indiana banks, savings and loans, and credit unions, including financial data and a list of officers and directors of each institution. Approximately 1,000 copies of the directory are distributed to IBA members for use throughout the year. Advertising in the "Yellow Pages" is restricted to IBA associate members. Contact Paul Freeman for more information. Order a Directory.

    Mega Conference Program Booklet

The Mega Conference Program Booklet is the perfect vehicle to reach those decision makers in attendance at our largest event. This is a particularly effective way to reinforce your attendance at the conference as an exhibitor, sponsor or presenter.

    Annual Convention Program

Similarly, the Annual Convention Program will put your message in front of those senior managers in attendance at this traditional event.

    Direct Mail Services

The IBA maintains an extensive database that can be segmented by functional title, geographic location and/or asset size of institution. The IBA can deliver your direct mail message directly to the desks of your target audience.

    Trade Shows

The IBA hosts two trade shows annually:

The IBA Mega Conference is a comprehensive educational event containing more than 40 sessions and is attended by approximately 1,000 bankers. The conference is held each spring at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis.

We also host an Annual Convention.  This more intimate event is attended primarily by CEOs and board members.  Having a somewhat greater social component, the convention moves from destination to destination.

Both of these venues will provide you with the opportunity to display your products and services to top decision-makers representing the Indiana banking community.  Because of limited space and overwhelming demand, both of these events are usually "members only".

    Sponsorships

The IBA welcomes sponsors to help underwrite association activities such as golf tournaments, refreshment breaks, receptions, banquets and entertainment. Sponsorships are available in a wide range of budgets. Sponsors are recognized through various means, identifying them as a leading provider to the Indiana banking industry.

    Due Diligence Review and Report

Occasionally, the association is asked to "check-out" a particular product or service provider.  Following an extensive review process, the IBA will produce a Due Diligence Report assessing the appropriateness of the product or service for the IBA membership.  This report will be distributed to the membership and posted on the IBA website to facilitate future research.  A Due Diligence Report is not an exclusive relationship and does not make a qualitative choice among competitors.

    Preferred Service Providers

One responsibility of the IBA is to develop and maintain products and services that will benefit the membership.  In discharging this responsibility, it is sometimes desirable to enter into a Preferred Service Provider (PSP) relationship.  A PSP relationship would be based on the following:

    • A thorough due diligence review
    • Value-added benefits available only to IBA members
    • Sufficient investment in IBA marketing services to achieve sales success
    • Additional compensation for the investment of association time and resources, and for the risk to its reputation

A PSP will enjoy limited exclusivity.  Only one firm will be granted PSP status for any given product or service.  However, the IBA does reserve the right to continue to offer membership and other marketing services to competing firms.

A PSP will enjoy the following additional benefits:

  • Preferred location at IBA trade shows
  • Preferred location for Hoosier Banker advertisements
  • Inclusion in a special PSP page on the IBA web site
  • Inclusion in a special PSP brochure distributed to the membership
  • Inclusion of a profile article in Hoosier Banker
  • Display of marketing materials in the IBA Center for Professional Development
  • Right of first refusal for certain sponsorships and special events

A PSP relationship is designed to provide outstanding marketing support.  However, it does not provide sales support.  The IBA does not have the personnel or organizational capacity to undertake sales responsibility.  The ability of a PSP to provide sales support for the state of Indiana is critical to the success of the relationship.

    Marketing Packages

Any or all of the foregoing tools can be grouped together to form a Marketing Package, giving you an edge on your competition while providing an outstanding return on your marketing dollar.  The IBA can create a package to fit almost any marketing budget.

    For example:

  • Associate membership
  • Half-page directory ad
  • Introductory direct mail campaign
  • Follow-up direct mail campaign
  • (4) full-page advertisement in the Hoosier Banker magazine
  • Trade show exhibit at the Mega Conference

If priced individually, these items represent a $6,000 value.  As a Marketing Package, you pay only $4,800 and save 20%!

This is only one example.  Depending upon your needs, the IBA can custom build a package specifically designed to increase awareness and market share for your products and services.
